Dr Susanna Unsworth

MA (Cantab) MB BChir MRCGP DRCOG DFSRH

Hello! My name is Dr Susanna Unsworth and I’m a GP that specialises in Women’s Health

I trained as an Undergraduate at Pembroke College, Cambridge and completed my clinical medical qualification at the University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine, graduating in 2005. I have worked in hospitals throughout the Eastern region, before commencing training in General Practice. I achieved Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2010 and have worked in practices in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

Over the last 10 years I have developed my knowledge of women’s health by completing diplomas from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (DFSRH). I have also recently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Community Gynaecology from the University of Bradford.

I have started FemaleGP as a way of providing answers to the questions many women have about their health. It is well recognised that women often ‘put up’ with their health problems, particularly in relation to their periods or the menopause, and only go to see their GP once things are really bad! This is made worse by our already overstretched NHS services, leaving women feeling their problems are not a priority.

My hope is to build a resource of easy to understand information on all areas of women’s health, allowing women to better understand their own health issues and what can be done to help them. No woman should have to struggle with their health because they felt they had no one to ask!
