Women’s Institute proposed resolution – Don’t Fear the Smear
19th April 2019
I was kindly invited by the Suffolk West Federation of Women’s Institutes (SWFWI) to give a presentation at their Resolution Conference which took place in Bury St Edmunds on Thursday April 17th.
One of the proposed resolutions for 2019 is ‘Don’t Fear the Smear’ – if this resolution gets voted through at the National WI Resolution Conference in June then the WI will be involved in organising events aimed at increasing uptake of cervical screening.
I took the opportunity to explore the issues preventing women from attending their cervical screening test – a test that truly is lifesaving. With attendance rates at the lowest they’ve been for 20 years something needs to be done – I really hope the WI feel this is a resolution worth voting for!
Thank you again to the SWFWI for inviting me to speak about this important issue!
